When a structural inspection of the roof indicated that the building should be condemned and demolished, the Tuba City Unified School District was faced with a crisis. A complete master plan was developed to provide a replacement school that would be completed in phases based upon available funding.
The logistics of the project were complicated by safety issues related to operating portions of the school during the phased demolition and construction. The new school includes administrative offices, upgraded classrooms and vocational shops, arts classrooms and a child care center.
